We didn’t see this one on our exhaustive leaked Nokia roadmap, but our homeboy Boy Genius has uncovered pics and specs of a new Nokia flip destined for AT&T. Codenamed “Wahoo,” the quad-band clamshell features an interesting half-QWERTY keypad, an internal 2.2-inch QVGA display and a 1.36-inch external unit, push-to-talk, microSD expansion, and A2DP support — which you’ll need because Nokia seems to think a 2.5mm headphone jack is still somehow acceptable. No word on a release date, but if you’re waiting on pins and needles for a phone with a display that small we really can’t help you anyway.

Gifu University’s Graduate School of Medicine, long fed up with subjecting the general public to the horrors of teaching hospitals (you’ve seen
Scrubs, right?) has teamed up with the Mizuno Technical Institute in Japan to develop Keiko — an interactive humanoid robot that mimics a number of neurological disorders, responding to the doctor’s touch and even holding rudimentary conversations. The robot gives students the opportunity to observe and diagnose rare brain and nervous system illnesses in a classroom setting, where no one can get hurt — not a bad idea, so long as this doesn’t result in a generation of doctors who confuse “veins” with “wires.”

Can’t be long now, right? First we had dummies, but these are the real deal, ladies and gentlemen — a little over five ounces of HSDPA, VGA, TouchFLO 3D, QWERTY, and likely a bunch more letters and numbers we’re not recalling at the moment. Retail Fuzes are trickling into stores as we speak, though they’re apparently going under lock and key; as far as we can tell, none will be sold until AT&T drops the green flag. In the meantime, Sprint, pimp that Touch Pro of yours as hard as you can, because we’re afraid your exclusivity is about to end.

The Storm’s garnering the lion’s share of the RIM spotlight at the moment, but let’s not forget the mighty Bold — the fastest, sexiest QWERTY BlackBerry to date. You saw the unboxing of AT&T’s version; now, read the hands-on!

For those who stick to one coast or the other, you may have never even heard of Centennial Communications. Not to worry, though, as AT&T just made said company entirely more relevant. Shortly before heading out of the office on Friday, AT&T decided it fitting to acquire Centennial for a few bucks shy of a billion, or $944 million for those seeking precision. The transaction will beef up AT&T’s coverage for customers in rural areas of the Midwest and Southeast United States, not to mention in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. As always, the acquisition must first pass regulatory approval, the approval of Centennial’s stockholders and “other customary closing conditions” before the little guy’s 1.1 million subscribers officially make the shift, but we certainly don’t expect that to be an issue.

If you had any lingering doubt that HTC’s US, GSM version of the Touch Pro (AKA the Fuze) was headed to AT&T in the near future, you can probably take a deep breath. Thanks to an eagle-eyed tipster, we’re now able to view HTC’s official page for the device, although it looks like they may not be done with all the coding, as an image of the Tilt is still being used as a placeholder. There’s no mention of release date, though we do learn that the device will sport AT&T’s Cellular Video and Mobile Music services, and a “unique AT&T defined 5 row slide out / slide away QWERTY keyboard,” which definitely means nothing at all. Hit the read link if you don’t believe us, but for goodness’ sake — you should see someone about that paranoia.
[Thanks, Wie]

We figured those dummies probably meant something good was about to happen, and sure enough, evidence is building that we’re just days away from an official Fuze release. Boy Genius Report has been ever so graciously provided with documentation suggesting that we’ll see HTC’s latest WinMo greatness on AT&T shelves come November 11 (just a day after the Quickfire) for $299.99 after contract and rebate discounts have been applied — or a solid $499.99 if you want to kick it commitment-free. That pricing is right in line with the Bold, making for an interesting, drama-rich showdown heading into the end of the year. Fight!

Sprint beat ‘em with the Touch Pro, but that doesn’t mean a throng of AT&T customers aren’t going to be delighted to hear that the Fuze is now shipping to stores — sort of. Retail locations are receiving dummy Fuzes now, which don’t do much good if you’re trying to store contacts, make appointments, or place calls, but at least give us a solid indication that retail availability ain’t too far off. Sorry, Tilt — you had a good run, but our lust definitely lies elsewhere at this point.

We’re normally fans of “quirky,” but there’s nothing more frustrating than a quirky clicking experience, as has been reported by many of the ungrateful bastages who’ve snapped up the new MacBook and MacBook Pros since launch. The primary reported problem was with certain physical clicks not registering on that schmancy new glass trackpad, no small annoyance. Earlier this week an email from a disgruntled user to Mr. Customer Support himself, Steve Jobs, was responded to by a call from Apple’s customer relations saying that they were “researching” the issue, and a couple days later a similar request from another user was met with a terse email from Steve: “Software fix coming soon.” Of course, these conversations could all be the delusional fantasies of click-addled attention hounds, but we’re going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that Apple does in fact have a fix in the works for this problem. So, while they toss that presumed update together, how has the new trackpad been treating you?
