- Full rules can be found here.
Last round’s winner: Richard! (Remember, winners are selected at random.)

Interestingly enough, a lot of the gripes you readers had with the original Rock Band were addressed by Activision in the rivaling Guitar Hero: World Tour (cymbals, anyone?), but we’re pretty sure the picky ones out there still have something to complain about. And seriously, when dropping upwards of $180 to $190 for the full-on band kit, you absolutely have a right to nitpick. Now that you’ve hopefully rocked through a few set lists, how are you enjoying things? Are the revamped / new instruments to your liking? Are the sensors accurate enough? Do you wish there was a freestyle mode in order to give real drummers free reign over what beats they play? Is your equipment holding up under the intense pressure of rockin’ it all night long? Grab a mic and spit your feelings (in rhyme or prose, whatever) below.

Those keychain flashlights and laser pointers are more annoying than they are useful. But at least Nintendo’s Wiimote projector would look kind of cool when your friends shine it in your eye. Resembling a Wiimote controller, the keychain measures 2.25 inches long, and it beams an image of Super Mario Kart characters on the wall.
Imported from Japan, the keychains are available at ThinkGeek for $6.

Just hours before the Xbox 360’s newest dashboard update hits tomorrow morning (10:00 a.m. GMT), our friends at Joystiq noticed the list of movies available for Netflix Watch Instantly streaming has suddenly dropped. The culprit? Sony Pictures Home Entertainment subsidiary Columbia Pictures, flicking previously available titles like Superbad, Bad Boys, and We Own the Night over to “Not available on Xbox” status (curiously, SPHE movies are still available to all.) Word from the official Netflix blog cites “the ebb and flow” of what is available on license at any given time causing a few hundred titles to be “temporarily” unavailable on the console, while still open for streaming for other devices, with an eye towards licensing them for the Xbox 360 soon. There’s no way to know what movies won’t work until adding them to your queue, so when you find your Karate Kid trilogy watching time suddenly wide open for more Gears of War 2 or Left 4 Dead action, just remember you have Sony to thank.

You likely don’t need any reminders that the likes of
Gateway and
Dell (and
Alienware) have released some new systems based around Intel’s flagship
Core i7 processor, but it’s a whole other matter to sort out the multitude of options available from some of the smaller PC manufacturers out there, and we thought we’d take this opportunity to shed a bit light on some of those slightly lower profile contenders for the desktop throne. Ready to get started? Then check your bank account and head on past the break.

It’s barely been two days since we heard that “Dan” at Peek had opened a suggestion box for would-be customers to recommend “minor” tweaks for their email only handheld, so we assume today’s news is unrelated. Regardless, there was a pretty decent upgrade to the device last night, adding the ability to view image attachments, as well as text messaging capabilities. Texting works through an SMS email gateway, with users entering numbers in the “To:” field, but we’re not going to start nitpicking about technicalities. Seriously though, if they add a way to make calls to this thing, we’re totally sold.

Fans of the old-timey GameCube will rest easier tonight knowing that Hori is now manufacturing its variation of the classic controller, creatively named the “Classic Controller.” We’ve seen other
gamepads in this style, but not many that get it as close to the original design as this — plus it has those insane autofire switches. These bad boys are available in black, white, and blue on December 4th in Japan, and you can pre-order them now for $29.90 over at Play-Asia.

There are plenty of reasons to return to the classics: maybe they’re better than the currents, maybe it’s an ironic move (like listening to Kajagoogoo and wearing giant eyeglasses), or maybe you’re just aged and yearning for old-timey days. Regardless, Legacy Entertainment’s classic controller looks exactly like an Atari joystick, but it’s Windows / OS X / Linux compatible, and connects via USB. The company assures us that it runs with “nearly any emulator,” so you and your friends should be 80’s-style partying in no time, if that’s what you’re into. $14.99 and it’s yours — if you have any moola left after you buy that tubular car-phone-looking Bluetooth handsfree.
[Thanks, Silver Serpent]

Some new details have emerged about
LincVolt, Neil Young’s latest foray into green auto, and we’re more than happy to pass ‘em along to you. According to our friends at
Autoblog, the LincVolt shares more than just a name with
GM’s Volt, using a CNG engine to power the electric drive system so that the wheels are driven by the batteries alone. The car currently gets 50 MPG, but the LincVolt team are aiming at 100 MPG and a system that will achieve “over-unity” (generating more energy than is put in). The company has also launched a new website which will provide live data from Shakey’s very own vehicle (voltage, battery charge, speed, etc.) as well as the typical blogs and forums. If that isn’t enough, we’ve even included a video Neil driving his car, just in case you’ve never seen anybody drive a car before. Check it out after the break.
