Sometimes, a band will record in a warehouse so they can tell people they recorded in a warehouse. And sometimes, they’ll do it to sound like this. No strangers to the post-industrial motif–they’re from Jersey–Carlon drop a swoony stunner that makes full use of its cavernous space.

While this rumor hasn’t been running quite as long as the
original iPhone rumor, we’ve been brushing off whispers of the
D3x for a really,
really long time. For what it’s worth, the latest tidbit actually seems to have some teeth, with one eagle-eyed tipster noting that the website in the read link was alive momentarily, then canned inexplicably. He managed to grab the image you see above (but not the whole site?), and he swears up and down it wasn’t the Eggnog distorting his judgment. We’ll see, won’t we?
[Thanks, Darryl]

It was only a matter of time before someone took notice of Rawkus 50 emcee Cymarshall Law. Combining raw lyricism with soulful East Coast slaps on his latest release Hip-Hop in the Soul, he’s unsurprisingly been described as “the next most important artist in hip-hop.”

Donald and Jasmine discuss Zune price drops and a Zune Pass deal that may put some pressure on other subscription services.
Also on the agenda is the latest iPod Touch firmware, some products that failed to impress, iTunes alternatives, and a reader question about stripping audio from DVDs.
Plus, we’re giving away a 120GB Zune MP3 player from Microsoft (see contest details below). Not just any Zune, in fact, but the thoroughly badass Gears of War 2 Edition, which features an etched logo and comes loaded with Gears of War videos, photos and music.

It seems like just yesterday (or last month, to be more exact) that we were enjoying the spoils of firmware 2.50, and now, Sony’s giving us a little pre-Thanksgiving treat with version 2.53. Slated to hit the wires sometime on November 26th, the latest PlayStation 3 update will bring along full-screen Flash support (huzzah!) among other minor tweaks. Check the full changelog in the read link, and get ready to get your download on tomorrow.

In this week’s Wired Gadget Lab Audio Podcast, Daniel Dumas, Brian Chen, and I talk about how the economic recession is forcing retailers to jump start their Black Friday deals on televisions and why this is mainly a good thing for consumers. We’ll also go over the reason why people shouldn’t worry about losing out on even bigger deals down the road if they buy a TV this week.
In addition, we’ll discuss the dirty trick that Apple is currently pulling with their new MacBooks. Mainly, they secretly slipped in some copyright protection that prevents people from fully enjoying the use of their port the way it was meant to be used – to push iTunes movies into giant screens.
Finally, we’ll go over the new features from the latest iPhone firmware update, and we’ll review the new BlackBerry Storm. So what’s our verdict on the latest wannabe iPhone-killer? Tune in to find out.

It’s never been much of a secret that the Dell Mini 9 has been 3G-ready from day one, and Vodafone customers have been able to get a 3G-equipped model direct from the carrier for a little while now, but it looks like folks in the US can now finally get in on the mobile broadband action as well, with a built-in 3G option now configurable on Dell’s site. Unfortunately, anyone that already took the plunge on a Mini 9 is out of luck, as the $125 upgrade is only available new orders (and only available on Windows XP-equipped models). If that doesn’t preclude you, however, you can also expect to get a $120 rebate if you’re willing to sign a two-year contract for AT&T’s DataConnect service, although it looks like you’ll also have to put up with a delay in your ship date at the moment.

As you probably learned in grammar school, there’s a time in every gadget’s life when it gets the
Colorware treatment — and for the G1 and the Bold, the time is now. It’ll run you $150 to dress up your current T-Mobile handset, or the company will ship you a brand new one $725. Prices for the BlackBerry Bold run $139 and $674 for the makeover and the whole phone, respectively. Sure, that’s a pretty pile of change, but if you’d spent your formative years in the East Coast rave scene you’d know just how coveted and stylish a pink, blue and orange G1 really is. If the BlackBerry is more your speed, make sure you check out that sexy number after the break.
[Thanks, Ken]
