Sadly (very, very sadly, in fact), this isn’t the first device we’ve seen that poorly attempts to mix your iPod into a karaoke-type device, which probably means you’ll be glancing right over it. Memorex’s recently released SingStand MKS-SS1 Microphone and Speaker System was apprehended and photographed by the iPod fanatics at iLounge, and while the powered speaker base, auxiliary input for an additional microphone / instrument and the audio controls were swell, the lackluster iPod integration sort of left the critic wondering why Cupertino’s darling was even associated. And seriously, are you really considering spending $70 on this with Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2 widely available and able to satisfy your off-key singing desires? No, no you are not.

“Cyber Monday.” You probably couldn’t pick a worse name for a day of conspicuous, retailer-defined consumerism, but you’re welcome to try. SanDisk decided to forgo the Black Friday insanity and instead run with three days of Cyber Monday sales, with up to 60% off those boring, ever-necessary flash memory products it’s so well known for — and Sansa players aplenty.

Don’t be crazy alright? Just get your comment in below, because if you win this one, you’re walking away with a totally boss Zune 120 plus a sweet pair of those premium earbuds. You’d have to be crazy, stupid, or some lethal combination of both not to jump at this one. Now here’s how it’s done.
We’ll put up a gadget on the site, and you can only enter it until the next gadget lands (usually within a couple of hours). If you miss your shot, sorry, we’re moving on to the next gadget. Good luck! Oh, and don’t forget the rules. (Yeah, there are always rules.)
- Leave a comment below. That’s it! Who loves you, baby.
- You may only enter this specific giveaway once. If you enter this giveaway more than once you’ll be automatically disqualified, etc. (Yes, we have robots that thoroughly check to ensure fairness.) You can enter different giveaways in today’s Black Friday giveaways, but you can only enter this one once.
- If you enter more than once, only activate one comment. This is pretty self explanatory. Just be careful and you’ll be fine.
- Contest is open to anyone in the 50 States, 18 or older! Sorry, we don’t make this rule (we hate excluding anyone), so be mad at our lawyers or US contest laws if you have to be mad.
- Winners will be chosen randomly.
- Entries can be submitted until the next contest goes up. After that we’re all done. Good luck!
- Full rules can be found here.
Last round’s winner: hammerhead_12! (Remember, winners are selected at random.)

It looks like MSI has been pretty busy lately. We got a good look at the
MSI Wind U120 about a week ago, and now the company’s back with a slew of new machines and we have plenty of details for you to savor. Most notably, the U115 is a 10-inch netbook featuring the Intel Atom Z530 processor, 1-2GB memory, and a hybrid SSD / hard drive storage system. The solid state drive (being smaller and theoretically faster) is meant to contain the OS while the hard drive is to be used for data. The U110 is basically the same as the U115, except it only ships with 1GB memory and there is no SSD included. Also introduced were the U150 (sadly enough with no specs, besides the fact that it also ships with both HDD and SSD storage) and the WindBox, an Atom N270-based nettop designed to be VESA-mounted to the back of your monitor. The WindBox should be available Q1 2009 for around €300. Keep reading after the break for a complete rundown of all the specs.

We’ll be frank — we had kind of forgotten about the altogether astounding Golden Shellback after seeing it work its magic on video this summer, but now the weatherproof coating is on sale, and it’s mighty tempting. For the argonauts out there (or just you clumsy kids) who can’t seem to honor the natural separation between gadget and liquid, this coating keeps your precious gizmo safe from the occasional splash of rain, mist, fog, steam or Seltzer water. Granted, such protection won’t run you cheap (does it ever?), with a coating for the BlackBerry Pearl running $120, the iPod shuffle $60 and the iPod touch $120. GS will also encase a few other select devices, and honestly, they’ll probably wrap up your Palm III if the offer is right.

Well, what do you know? That Samsung YP-P3, which was rumored back in May, is more than just a figment of someone’s vivid imagination. Thanks to the wonderful FCC, we now know that Sammy is pressing for approval to release its next-generation PMP here in the States, though that’s absolutely all that we know right now. There’s no attached user manual, no splendid internal / external photos and no other juicy details to pore over. But let’s focus on the positive, shall we? The P3 is for real, and it’s coming soon.

Remember when playing Quake III at a decent resolution required a $5,000 Alienware? Man, those were the days. Now, we can’t help but be thankful for a few special Nokia handsets (the N95 8GB, E90 and N82 in particular) that can all handle the game by their lonesome. In fact, the latest version of the software adds a few remarkably awesome extras. For starters, users can now take advantage of on-phone server support, meaning that your handset can actually host a Quake III multiplayer battle (and may we recommend the server name “trashaccident?”). Also of note, the devs have tossed in support for Bluetooth mice and keyboards. We know, right? Tap the read link for all the juicy installation instructions.
[Via Decoder, thanks Olli]

Over at the Engadget household today, we staffers have gathered around a cornucopia of good eats, good gadgets, and most importantly, good times. When it came time to list all the things we were thankful for, our readers were undoubtedly the top choice. And with Ask Engadget questions like this one, can you really blame us?
“I’ve been listening to your podcast since the day you reintroduced it and I really like it, but I have a hard time understanding what you’re saying when I’m in the subway. So I’d like to know what are the best noise-suppressing headphones I could get for around $150. Either that, or you could just ask Nilay to speak louder… thanks a lot!”
We’ll be sure to pass the word to Nilay (he’s a bit busy with the pumpkin pie at the moment), but for all of you overstuffed individuals out there, how’s about giving Gabriel an answer he’ll appreciate? Afterwards, send in a question of your own to ask at engadget dawt com.

Oh boy, it’s almost here (we think). If we’re reading the machine translated text correctly, then Cowon’s S9 Curve, first revealed in August, is expected to land in the US mid-December. No price was listed for the 8GB / 16GB audio and video player with a 3.3-inch, 480 x 272 pixel AMOLED display and Bluetooth. Cowon is, however, pushing the player’s BBE technology (like that found in the A2) meant to doctor the sound quality. Nothing official on the rather pathetic Cowon America website, but we’ll let you know just as soon as something pops.

In a new twist to the wearisome saga of the Beatles digitizing their music catalog for iTunes (or any digital service, for that matter), Paul McCartney says that the negotiations have “stalled.” McCartney said, “It’s between EMI and the Beatles, I think,” before adding, “I really hope it will happen because I think it should.” While an EMI spokeswoman sounded hopeful about the matter getting resolved, we’ll just assume this is all Yoko’s fault in keeping with tradition.
