Hitachi‘s latest trifecta wasn’t designed for your surely swank abode per se, but we suppose those with enough cash and willpower can do anything they darn well please. That said, the CP-X10000 (1,024 x 768), CP-WX11000 (1,280 x 800) and CP-SX12000 (1,400 x 1,050) can all handle professional (read: lit) settings with ease, featuring 7,500 / 6,500 / 7,000 lumens, respectively. The whole lot also boasts a 2,500:1 contrast ratio, 10-bit signal processor, HDMI / BNC connectors, Ethernet, an RS-232 control port and a lamp good for 10,000 maintenance-free hours. Mum’s the word on price, but don’t worry, these are going on the corporate card anyway.

If you’ve ever thought about building a guitar for one second, you know that it’s so insanely complicated that it’s almost not worth the effort. The Zoybar kits aim to reduce a lot of those complexities — the components are all open-source, extremely customizable, and modular. They boast seemingly endless options for the guitar (or whatever you choose to build), not to mention the possibilities of the special effects displays. It looks like it’s going to be pretty simple to get creative with the kits, but it’s a little hard to tell. There’s no word on what the components or kits are going to cost, but they claim to be launching in December. Looks like we know what we’re getting cousin Yngwie for his birthday! Hit the read link for several insane videos of the extremely wild, ingenious results.

There’s no formal page for the Europe-only handset at this time, but it’s been spotted in a product drop-down menu (pictured here). If you’ve been waiting to upgrade your Palm on your Sprint contract, know that the currently available 800W is basically the same thing. Both handsets run Windows Mobile and feature a 320×320 screen, GPS and Wi-Fi. The Pro is just a bit thinner with a nicer battery. Bad news! Your costume sucks compared to this kid’s, which is amazing. It’s a homemade chicken walker mech costume, and it is so badass I can’t quite put how badass it is into words. I think between this and the a href=”http://gizmodo.com/5064476/homemade-mega-man-costume-looks-just-as-good-as-the-real-thing”Lil’ Mega Man costume/a we can conclude that Halloween is the best time for awesome dads to work on really fun, nerdy costumes with their kids. Nothing surprising, really, until they tell you that the star is called Epsilon Eridani. Which just happens to be, hold your tinfoil hats on, the legendary home star of a href=”http://gizmodo.com/5069916/new-star-trek-photos-appear-enterprises-bridge-screen-fully-revealed”a certain Mr. Spock/a. According to Marengo, they have a pretty good idea of how it looks like:/p pimg src=”http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/gizmodo/2008/10/PORTRAIT_OF_A_YOUNG_SOLAR_SYSTEM_.jpeg” align=”left” hspace=”4″ vspace=”2″ width=”445″ height=”324″ style=”display:block;float:none;” //p blockquote pStudying Epsilon Eridani [artist representation above] is like having a time machine to look at our solar system when it was young. This system probably looks a lot like ours did when life first took root on Earth. Epsilon Eridani looks a lot like the young solar system, so it’s conceivable that it will evolve similarly./p /blockquote pLooking at the Spitzer data, the Epsilon Eriadni solar system should have at least three planets in orbit. At least, Marengo and Backman are saying this is the only way to explain its asteroid belt configuration, which is very similar to our own, but in a more primitive state./p pThese include one inner asteroid belt which is a virtual duplicate to the one between Mars and Jupiter. There’s also an outer ring similar to the Kuiper Belt. The latter holds 100 more material than ours because it hasn’t go through a process called the Late Heavy Bombardment yet. In theory, this happened when our solar system’s planets attracted much of the Kuiper belt into the inner orbits. Finally, there’s a third belt located in the equivalent orbit of Uranus, with as much mass as our Moon./p pAccording to Marengo, “planets are the easiest way to explain what we’re seeing.”/p pWe believe you, Dr Marengo Sir. Of course, it could all just be a huge scam, a deception, a camouflage system designed to hide one of the largest starship construction facilities in the Federation from our puny telescopes. And yes, right there I just became the nerdiest Gizmodo editor second only to Jason Chen. The rumors, they are true—Sprint’s HTC Touch Pro, originally set to drop on Oct. 19, has been delayed until at least the end of the month, and possibly into November. Apparently it’s an issue of making sure they have enough to go around. Oddly, it seems like Sprint stores and their online shop will get the phone after “select national retailers” (i.e., Best Buy).
“Sprint expects to slightly delay launch of the Touch Pro by HTC to ensure we have adequate inventory in all channels before making the device commercially available. Customers can expect the device to become available in select national retailers by the end of the month and then in all Sprint sales channels including online at www.sprint.com and Sprint Stores by early November.”
Two weeks isn’t so bad, as long as it stays that way. [Cnet]

I hate rumors and I hate rumor sites. Or better said, I hate stupid rumors and dumb rumor sites. But I specially hate useless people who try to fabricate them and fail miserably. Like this MacBook Pro, which is a gross Photochop done by someone who actually doesn’t have a clue about what perspective means. Still—even while this obvious fake has multiple perspective vanishing points and bad clone stamping all around—the fact is that, if they did one for real, I would buy it.
