Word on the street has it that the
Samsung P3 will be getting its official launch at CES in January, and to whet your appetite we’ve got a video unboxing for you courtesy of those crazy kids at Generation MP3. Apparently the same form factor as the venerable
P2 (but in an all aluminum enclosure), the PMP sports haptic touch, WQVGA 3-inch (480 x 272) display, Bluetooth, microphone, speaker, FM tuner, plays all the expected media formats, and will be available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, or 32GB. Also in the video, we get a pretty extensive look at those widgets everyone’s been talking about. But don’t take it from us — you can see for yourself after the break.

Around this time last month, we learned that Netflix streaming would be making its way onto Samsung’s BD-P2500 / BD-P2550 Blu-ray players. Today, Sammy has dropped another related bombshell: HD Netflix streaming is just around the bend. Beginning the first week of December (which isn’t vague at all), owners of the aforementioned decks will be able to suck down a simple firmware update to enable high-def Netflix streaming. Enjoy the exclusivity, Xbox 360 — it all comes to an end soon.

If the BlackWing Three was just a touch too rich for your blood, yet you dug what Cineversum had going on, have a look at this. The BlackWing One 1080p digital video projector relies on three 0.6-inch LCoS panels (all with a 1,920 x 1,080 native resolution, obviously) and comes pre-calibrated for optimal performance right out of the box. Additionally, it features a 15,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,400 ANSI lumens, two HDMI 1.3 sockets, an RS-232 control port and a “futuristic deep metallic-black ABS plastic chassis” designed by France’s own Antoine Béon. The first batch is scheduled to hit North America in mid-December for $6,500 apiece, but those up for spending more can have their unit splashed with a custom color.

We’ve heard that it’s been showing up on doorsteps and in stores for a few days now, but T-Mobile has just officially given the word that the G1 is now available in white to complement bronze and the especially personality-free black (not to say there’s anything wrong with that, black G1 owners). The price, hardware, and software are all the same, so if you thought this release might somehow magically bring a soft keyboard with it, think again. Any guesses what — if any — future colors we might see on this puppy?

Well, Verizon Wireless is certainly kicking off the holiday season with a bang. In just the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen the release of the RIM BlackBerry Storm, the Samsung Saga, the HTC Touch Pro, and now, the Samsung Omnia.
The Samsung Omnia …

Cellphones are caught in this awkward spot where they’ve got to be small — like pocketable, doesn’t-look-ridiculous-on-your-face small — and yet somehow big enough to pack an expansive, pretty display that’s capable of displaying a lot of stuff at once. That’s a paradox that has forced manufacturers into some curious form factors over the years, but ultimately, if you want to somehow cram the desktop viewing experience into a device the size of a pack of cigarettes, you’re probably going to need something that projects, rolls, or folds. That’s where Samsung’s new concept phone shown off at the FPD International show in Yokohama comes into play, opening like a book to reveal a flexible OLED big enough to handle those cute puppy videos that no plain-vanilla, 2.5-inch display can do justice. There’s no word on when a so-equipped handset might see production — but we think it’s appropriate that it’s being shown off in Japan in all places, if you catch our drift. Follow the break for a video of the display in action.

The Samsung Renown offers 3G

After three touch-screen phones in a row, it’s nice to see a Samsung phone that doesn’t try to hard to make a statement.

The Samsung Gravity dropped our way this week, and we had a chance to put it through its paces.
As we referenced in an earlier blog post, the Gravity reminds us a lot of the Samsung Rant, and even more so of …
