DeskTask Puts Outlook Events and Tasks on Your Desktop [Featured Windows Download] 02 October 2008 at 1:00 pm by admin

Windows only: Freeware application DeskTask embeds your Microsoft Outlook calendars and tasks directly on your desktop—whether Outlook is running or not. We actually covered DeskTask a couple of years back, but in light of the recent popularity of embedded calendar and to-do applications like previously mentioned Rainlendar and Samurize, DeskTask seems like a perfect alternative for Outlook die-hards. Granted, you can accomplish more with something like Samurize (just take a look at the Lightning at Sunset desktop for an example), but if all you want is your Outlook info at a glance, the lightweight DeskTask is just the ticket.

+ Notepad 2008 Brings the Office Ribbon to Your Text Editor [Featured Windows Download] By admin 28 September 2008 at 10:00 am and have No Comments

Windows only: Experience the popular ribbon user interface from Micorosft Office 2007 in your free, light text editor with Notepad 2008. Notepad 2008 most closely resembles the lightweight WordPad with the ability for users to change font sizes to format their text, but with the added options to customize the display of your text editor with one of three different appearances. The ribbon interface displays all features of Notepad 2008 onscreen so that no menus are needed. Notepad 2008 is a free download for Windows only.

+ Sexy Sony Vaio TZ Is About To Be TT? [Rumor] By admin 21 September 2008 at 4:30 pm and have No Comments

Sony Insider is reporting a well-founded rumor that the Vaio team will announce a new notebook tomorrow, a replacement to the super-sweet TZ, now to be called TT. I don’t know if that’s an Audi reference or a boobie reference, but what I do know is that it will likely have wireless-N, Bluetooth and an EVDO option—no mention of HSDPA—and will be a full-powered Vista notebook with the same 11.1-inch screen as the lightweight TZ. Catchy name or not, this combination of features should make it a pretty hot item, so let’s all keep an eye out for the real news. [Sony Insider]
